With remembrance day on our doorstep, often we ask “How can I honor our Serving members/Veterans?” What better way than by supporting their small business?
The owner of M.I.C. Gear is a currently serving Navy member and M.I.C. Gear has a number of different items, including a line of chest rig style paintball pod carriers and accessories for MILSIM play, including remote line covers, pouches and universal 1 point slings. All gear is custom and made to order. All equipment has been created, designed and made in Canada.
In today’s Maker Monday spotlight, we’ll be focusing on Privateer Factory:
Pierre is the owner and operator of Privateer Factory, along with his lovely spouse Isabelle. Pierre has been with the Royal Canadian Navy for over 16 years. He is still currently serving with the navy as a Naval Electronic Sensor Operator.
Privateer Factory’s main business is BMX, MTB and Cycling gear. They also enjoy giving back to the Armed Forces community, and this is why they decided to create some designs for their fellow service members and veteran alike.
Today, we have an extra spotlight on one of our vendors:
Clarence, best known here at Tactical 74 as Lures for Vets, has been awarded the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation! This commendation is awarded to “Individuals who have performed commendable service to the Veteran community, and/or individuals who represent commendable role models for their fellow Veterans.”
Clarence’s passion and enjoyment of fishing came about after attending a Wounded Warriors Weekend 2013. Lures for Vets was created after receiving supplies as a Christmas gift and he generously donates ten percent of sales back to Wounded Warriors Weekend Foundation!
We are so proud to share with you Clarence’s commendation, and hope you will join us in celebrating him, one of many amazing and talented veterans that make up the team here at Tactical 74.
Today is a “Prime” day to highlight local craftsmen, and women! Today we’re focusing on Ottawa Wood Works:
They are an Ottawa-based, home wood-working service couple (she is a retired veteran, he is currently serving) crafting wooden pieces of art that you will be thrilled to gift or to display proudly for generations to come.
All of their products are made by hand and made to order (fully customizable and individualized)
We are pleased to announce that we have made a $2k+ donation to VETS Canada to help fight veteran homelessness. We couldn’t have made this donation without your support and sales. Thank you to all of our customers and supporters.

A big shout out to our vendor Privateer Factory! Did you know that they have volunteered to raise their Charity contributions?
Every time Tactical 74 sells a product, T74 collects a small portion to give a veteran charity. Its not a lot, but every bit helps. And with Privateer Factory’s generosity, that portion has gotten a lot bigger!
Check out their products (they are always adding new ones all the time)!
Buy a shirt, support a veteran business…and a veteran charity (not bad results for a cool looking shirt).
Tactical 74 had the opportunity to set up our booth at the Northern Micro technology conference. We were hard at work spreading the word about a great charity VETS Canada. We are pleased to announce that NM has generously donated $1k to the cause! Every cent of the money was passed on to VETS Canada and we know it will go a long way to help homeless veterans. Merry Christmas VETS Canada!
What is a socially responsible company? It’s a commitment to act for the benefit of society at large. For Tactical 74, this commitment is to the veteran community. Each year, Tactical 74 makes a commitment of how much we can donate to a veteran charity. We challenge ourselves to meet and exceed our goal from the year before.
When you purchase an item from Tactical 74, a portion of the sale will be donated to a veteran charity. In addition to charity, your sale supports a veteran business owner. Tactical 74’s commitment extends to helping fellow veteran business owners through meaningful partnerships and increased exposure.
Tactical 74 is a veteran marketplace. A proud collection of veteran businesses. Starting your own business while transitioning to civilian life is challenging. And Tactical 74 knows that first hand. Taking a lesson learned from battle, “there is strength in numbers”. Together we can all succeed. Every business featured on Tactical 74 has a strong, focused warrior at it’s core.
By shopping from our collection of veteran own businesses you help make their passion come to life. In addition, for every item purchased through Tactical 74, a donation to a veteran charity is made.
